Catalonia is a self-governing country within the Spanish state and it has full powers in the matter of Education. The department where we are based deals with all the actions involving School-Enterprise links. It co-ordinates the compulsory work experience of all the vocational students in the country. Among other things, it holds the responsibility of all the work placements and exchanges for the 320 Vocational Training Centres of the region. That means approximately 26,000 students involved in work placements. The Department has also made possible that in the last 10 years over 9,000 students have been involved in transnational exchanges all over Europe, in programmes such as Lingua, Petra, EWE, and LEONARDO 97, 98, 99, 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003.
